Taking in the IPCC Report

For those of us who have followed climate news closely in recent years, the IPCC report did not contain a great deal of surprises. At least, not in the summaries I've read so far. Still, the impact is overwhelming and hugely depressing. Having the full weight of the climate science community (literally hundred of scientists were involved) pronounce their considered, consensus opinion that we have just a few years to avert climate catastrophe...that wasn't easy to hear.

I suppose I was hoping that maybe they had it wrong, maybe we have more time than they've said. Reducing emissions by 45-55% in nine years...that just seems impossible. Impossible or not, the estimates haven't changed.
