LACCD faculty work hard to embed environmental equity into their curriculum, but often find themselves lacking access to needed resources. This Faculty Environmental Equity Catalyst Grant is intended to help fill this resource gap.
Who and What
- All LACCD faculty with active spring and fall 2026 assignments are eligible to apply.
- The grant funding is up to $2,000 maximum per project. All expenses must be approved by the Climate Center.
What type of projects?
The following are examples of the types of projects that are good fits for the grant:
- Speakers on environmental equity
- Classroom equipment needed to enhance environmental equity curriculum
- Materials to support environmental equity classroom work
- Environmental equity focused field trips – including transportation
- Events that amplify student work on environmental equity
- Sponsoring student environmental equity education projects
Note: All grant-funded activities need to be completed and all paperwork submitted before December 18, 2026.

FAQs
How the money may be used
What if an adjunct applies for the grant for later in the year, but is not offered a Fall assignment?
Please discuss this with the grant committee – if money cannot be spent with in guidelines- and there are extenuating circumstances, the committee will attempt to be flexible about dates.
Can this money be used for student club activities?
No, student clubs can ask for money from the Associated Student Organizations. This specific grant money is meant for faculty who wish to increase environmental equity education in their curriculum.
Can this money be used to purchase food ?
This grant money can be used to purchase if the food is part of a EEEC grant funded event. All food purchases will need to go through standard LACCD procedures.
Can these grant funds be used to to compensate faculty as judges for student competitions or similar?
These funds are not stipends. The budget will not be approved if paying faculty for curricular work or anything related to their position. If there is an event where faculty are being asked preform a special duty- such as judge a competition- a guest speaker etc this may be considered an honorarium and will be considered by the grant committee.
Can these funds be used as a stipend to pay faculty for work they are doing such as working on their curriculum, writing articles, participating on committees or presenting at a conference etc?
These funds are not available to pay faculty stipends. This includes curricular, writing, preparing materials presenting etc. Nor can faculty be paid a stipend etc, for working on this grant.
Can I request the maximum amount of money to pay a speaker, etc?
You can use up to $2000 but you must justify how this money will be spent – and provide a budget and required paperwork.
Who can use this grant
Can more than one faculty person from a department or program ask for funding?
As many faculty from a department or program that want to apply, may apply.
Can faculty apply for this grant as a team?
Yes, if faculty want to team up and work together and share the use of the grant money they are welcome to do so. Yes if faculty want to team up and work together and share the use of the grant money they are welcome to do so. They can do this as individuals each asking for up to $2000 and combining this money for a larger project. Faculty can also apply and work together as a team and split $2000.

How will faculty receive the grant money?
All grant funding will have to go through standard LACCD procedures. This means that new vendor applications, contracts, purchase requests, invoices and similar must be filed. No money will -or can be distributed before all the paperwork is submitted and approved. The grant committee will provide grantees information about what and how to submit this paperwork as needed.
When will grant applicants be notified and when will grants be distributed?
Grant applications will be reviewed as they are submitted. Grantees will be notified as soon as a decision is made – at the latest sometime around spring break. Grants will be distributed as vendor contracts, bills and invoices are processed.
